Formerly known as Bombay, Mumbai is the capital of the state of Maharashtra. One of the major metropolitan cities in the country Mumbai is huge in terms of area since it encompasses a cluster of seven islands. Mumbai is known as the business capital of India, it being the country's principal financial and communications centre. Mumbai is also synonymous with the Bombay Stock Exchange which is ranked as the third largest in the world. The city also happens to have the largest and the busiest port of the country handling a major part of India,s foreign trade.

The climate in Mumbai is generally hot and humid during summers and temperatures usually shoot up to (40°C). The monsoons witness excessive rains and are not the ideal time to visit this beautiful city. However the best time to visit Mumbai is the winters, the months between ( November to February) are ultimate since Mumbai does not experience extreme climate.
