About Central Mumbai

Previously termed as Bombay Central, Central Mumbai serves as the southernmost terminus in Mumbai for Western Railway outstation train to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh etc. Central Mumbai is one of the most popular regions of the city. It encompasses some of the most prestigious areas like Kurla, Chembur and Powai. Also emerging as a fast growing commercial location Central Mumbai is home to many top notch IT companies and Call Centers. One infested with erstwhile mill buildings today Central Mumbai offers a number of well planned residential complexes, schools, colleges, coffee shops and restaurants.

Popular as the largest industrial area in Mumbai, Chembur serves as an important transit point for travelers to Pune using the Mumbai Pune Highway or the Mumbai Pune Expressway. Chembur is also a great place for shopping since it houses some of the renowned brands like Nike, Reebok, Adidas and Woodland. This area in central Mumbai has a number of food joints and schools and colleges.


A quaint village in Bombay in the early 1920's and 30's today Ghatkopar is one of the richest suburbs of the city. Known as one of the busiest places in the city today , Ghatkopar has turned out to be a bustling and bursting town with all kind of eateries, shopping centers and Jewelery shops


Kurla is known as the one of the busiest railway stations in Central Mumbai Suburban. Kurla came into existence early in 1981 when the Bombay limits were expanded. Kurla emerged as an important commercial center when the when Bandra - Kurla Commercial complex was formed.


Situated at a distance of 14 km. from the International Airport Terminal and 32 kms from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mulund is one of the most prosperous locations in Central Mumbai. With a population of more than 8.5 lakhs Mulund is one of the most populous places of Mumbai. Most of the famous shopping centers of Mumbai are located in Mulund.


One of the most well built and a maintained area of Central Mumbai, Powai is attributed as one of the best townships in the region. Literally meaning sitting next to a lake and having a picnic in Marathi, Powai boats of some of the most popular housing malls, entertainment and restaurants in Central Mumbai. Also emerging as an IT hub Powai is home to a number of top IT companies.
